Development Management
Michael D. Kaney, P.E., Principal, is a seasoned development professional with thirty years of design and construction management experience of commercial projects, including twenty-five years in real estate development managing pre-construction and construction activities for mixed-use developments, regional open-air shopping centers, grocery anchored shopping centers, unanchored multi-tenant retail shopping centers, single tenant developments, residential land developments, and school developments throughout multiple states. In addition, Michael has experiences with office and industrial development projects. His professional experiences include both ground up developments, as well as remodeling/repositioning buildings.
Michael’s current and previous professional experiences include managing, coordinating and interfacing in all aspects of the development activities including site analysis and feasibility, budgeting, cost analysis and cost control, scheduling, due diligence investigations, project design, entitlement and permitting, construction management/construction administration and project close out.
Michael has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Option, from North Carolina State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of North Carolina and Florida; he is a licensed General Contractor in North Carolina and formerly a licensed Real Estate Sales Associate in Florida. Michael has served as an executive member of the City of Raleigh Development Services Advisory Committee and has been a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and Urban Land Institute.
